Dashing Doug Walters
Posted by: johnribothater on Feb 23, 2007 04:55:38am

My fondest memories of Australian Test Cricket as a kid, was that of a great cricketer and of a person with a brillant attitude to life, that was no other then the Great Dougy Walters. It was a pity that he was robbed of the opportunity to make just one more tour to England to achieve the elusive test century on Pommy soil as a No 6 allrounder! It typifies how the Australian cricket administration has been run by a pack incompetent freemasons for many many years. Dougy was in sizzling form and deserved just one more chance at the twilight of his career. He was a brilliant "eye" player as a batsman and a great partnership breaker as a bowler. Long live Dougy Walters!

Fantastic interview Graeme. What an absolute legend Dougie was and still is. I remember watching him as a kid, providing so much entertainment, and a lot later having a beer with him at one of his functions. Always happy to have a yarn. Great cricketer, great bloke, great life. Thanks Doug. You'll always be a legend. Cheers!
