Russell represented New South Wales at all age levels and also became an Australian Schoolboy representative. He came through the ranks at Cronulla to play seven games in the NRL however injuries have conspired to curtail his Storm appearances to just the one game. However, an injury free pre-season will have Russell in the best shape for a tilt at the NRL in 2008.<br />

Russell is a tall, athletic pivot in the mould of former five-eighth Scott Hill and with an injury-free run will get his chances to cement a spot in the Storm first-grade team in 2008. Russell is endowed with beautiful ball skills and has a wonderful kicking game. He has the skill set needed to worry even the best defences.<br />
