Bulldogs CEO MR Todd Greenberg has issued the following statement in response to Sonny Bill Williams departure overseas.
"We are absolutely baffled by this development,” Mr Greenberg said.
“On Thursday I had lunch with Sonny, Andrew Ryan and incoming coach Kevin Moore and there was zero indication that this was on the horizon.
“Sonny arrived at the Bulldogs as a 16 year old and since then we have worked hard both on and off the field to make sure we have looked after him as well as we possibly could.
“I share the frustration with Sonny’s team mates and the Bulldogs supporters that he has walked out like this.
“We have a game on Monday and this is just unacceptable on so many levels.
“As far as we are concerned this situation does not change the fact that Sonny is one year into a five year deal with the Bulldogs.
“I’m determined to ensure if he is not playing with the Bulldogs then he is not playing full stop.
“The club is now exploring options and obtaining legal advice to determine the next step.” _________________

Canterbury Bulldogs back rower Sonny Bill Williams has made his debut for French team Toulon, hours after an Australian court denied him permission to play in Europe.
Williams took part in a friendly against Carqueiranne-Hyeres, despite a court ruling in favour of his former club, the Canterbury Bulldogs, which blocked the player's big-money move to the Top 14 side.
