Cyril Dessel Takes Alpine Stage while Frank Schleck Retains Yellow Jersey

Cyril Dessel captured his first stage victory at the Tour de France on Tuesday as the Frenchman outsprinted a small group of riders to take the 97.6-mile Stage 16 trek from Cueno, Italy to Jausiers in 4 hours, 31 minutes, 27 seconds.

While Dessel captured the day the Tour de France overall leader remains Frank Schleck who finished 1 minute, 28 seconds behind the Frenchman to retain his Yellow Jersey. Schleck is holding seven second advantage over Bernhard Kohl and an 8 second lead over Cadel Evans.

On Wednesday the Tour de France will feature a 130.8-mile journey that includes climbs through Galibier, Croix de Fer and L’Alpe d’Huez.
