Adelaide United needs a miracle next week after being hammered 3-0 by Gamba Osaka in the first leg of the Asian Champions Leaue final in Japan.
Adelaide was totally outclassed and only some fine saves by goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic and some scrambling defence prevented a more devastating scoreline.
To make matters worse for Adelaide, both Galekovic and veteran defender Angelo Costanzo will miss next Wednesday's second leg at Hindmarsh Stadium after picking up yellow cards.
Ace Brazilian striker Lucas opened the scoring for Gamba in the 37th minute before setting up the second for midfielder Yasuhito Endo six minutes later.
Michihiro Yasuda added a third for the home team in the 68th minute, leaving Adelaide with a mountain to climb in the second leg at Hindmarsh Stadium next Wednesday.
It was almost 4-0 at the death with Endo having a goal disallowed in the dying minutes with striker Roni adjudged offside. _________________
