Dale 'Texas' Walker
Talkin Sport Presenter Dale 'Texas' Walker

Dale (Texas) Walker, played cricket and
rugby as a youngster, but his passion for the
racing industry led him to calling and
coordinating races on 2KY. He hosted his own
Sport show overnight and worked for the
Hong Kong Jockey Club. He now hosts
Football events for Star City and has even
put the boots back on.

Born in Adelaide and moving to Sydney with the family at the age of 9, Tex completed his schooling at Patrician Brothers Blacktown.

The big fella played Rugby League until he was 23 before defecting to the game they play in heaven, with the Petersham Shammies Rugby club, where he played all grades for the following 8 years. Tex still has an involvement with Rugby, having his referee's ticket and officiates when required.

He was also a member of Randwick Petersham cricket club for three seasons as an opening bowler and in more recent times has moved on to shires cricket. His love for the world game of football sees him pull on the boots as a striker today.

Tex 's other passion is in the racing industry and he gained a position with the Greyhound Recorder(newspaper) when he first left school. Since that time Tex has worked for the National Trotguide as a journo and his flight into the radio industry was in the early 90's where he took on the unenviable task as a racecaller for greyhound and harness racing. He then progressed to host his own sports talkback show, Big Sports Overnight on Radio 2KY, doing many of the fine things you hear on Talkin Sport today.
Dale has also worked for the Hong Kong Jockey Club providing race calls and as a raceday host.

Currently you can see the former racecaller hosting sporting nights at Star City Casino, where he interviews high profile sports stars and celebrities as you can view in the photo gallery.

Nowadays, Dale lives for his family, with wife Maria and baby girl Jamee.

He talks of how times have changed since he was a 16 year old kid trying to make it into the media and recalls being met at the Crossroads Hotel EVERY Saturday by his good friend Darren Flindell to go and practice racecalling at Moss Vale Dogs. He says "It was just something i had to do,i love all sports and sensed an opportunity when i met Darren (now number 1 racecaller in Hong Kong). " Darren had the patience to hear my race calls on an old cassette player on the way home from the track, i was sure it was doing his head in!. In saying that he is one of my closest friends, so it may not of been too torturous".

"I love working on Talkin Sport, MG is great and a funny guy, Graeme is a pro, Pappy is the rugby toff, and Langers, well he's Langers!!"
