After 11 NFL seasons, WR Marcus Robinson is
retiring as a Chicago Bear.
Robinson spent six seasons in a Bears uniform after being drafted by Chicago in
the fourth round (108th overall) in 1997. In 1999, Robinson rewrote the Bears
history books with a single-season team-record of 1,400 receiving yards,
fourth-most in the NFL that season. His 84 receptions in 1999 are fifth-most in
Chicago single-season history and his nine touchdown catches are tied for
ninth-most. Robinson is also the only player in the 88-year history of the
Bears with three 150-plus receiving yard contests in a single season (1999). He
ranks 16th in Bears history with 187 catches, 19th with 2,695 receiving yards
and tied for 13th with 20 touchdown receptions.
The University of South Carolina product appeared in 51 games as a Bear, with 28
starts and 107 NFL contests overall (52 starts). Robinson signed with the
Baltimore Ravens in 2003 and hauled in 31 receptions for 451 yards and a
team-high six touchdown catches. A year later he joined the Vikings and had 107
catches for 1,553 yards and 17 touchdowns in three seasons in Minnesota.
Robinson’s 17 touchdown receptions were the most for the Vikings during that
three-year span. His 1,553 receiving yards ranked second and his 107 catches
were tied for third-most on the team.
In 2007, Robinson joined the Detroit Lions but was placed on Injured Reserve
before the start of the season.
