Nadal enjoyed an easy day's work with a 6-2 6-4 6-1 second-round victory over Austrian Werner Eschauer.

Nikolay Davydenko beat Australian Chris Guccione 3-6 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 6-2.

Hewitt steamrolled through his second-round match against Italian Simone Bolelli 6-2 6-2 6-1.

Wayne Arthurs beat Spanish 11th seed Tommy Robredo 6-3 7-6 (7/5) 6-3.

Spain's Feliciano Lopez beat Tim Henman 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 2-6 6-1.
