World Cup 2010 European Qualifier Group Eight Results

Group Eight in the World Cup European qualifiers saw limited action on Saturday with two matches but the results could prove important for who books a trip to South Africa in 2010. Italy continues to struggle offensively as they played to a 0-0 draw with Bulgaria while Georgia and Cyprus each earned their first point as they played to a 1-1 draw.

Heading into Saturday’s match Italy managed to put two goals on the board against Cyprus and two goals against Georgia but both matches resulted in wins and they could have really taken control of the group with a win against Bulgaria but could only manage to draw.

Cyprus was playing their second match of the qualifying stages and bounced back from their loss to Italy to earn a 1-1 draw against Georgia who had dropped both their previous matches.

Group Eight play will continue on Oct. 15 when Georgia will face Bulgaria, Ireland will take on Cyrus, and Italy will meet Montenegro.
