World Cup 2010 European Qualifier Group Five Results

Football Group Five action in the World Cup European qualifier did little to clear the picture as all three countries sitting atop the standings collected wins. Spain eased by Estonia, Belgium had no problem with Armenia and Turkey handled Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Spain proved they were the most dominant country in Group Five play as they used two goals in the first half from Juanito and David Villa and then a third goal from Carles Puyol in the second half to blank Estonia 3-0. With wins over Bosnia and Armenia Spain now has nine points in three matches and have yet to allow a goal.

Turkey earned a fortuitous win on Saturday as they trailed Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 on a goal from Edin Dzeko in the first half but Dzeko then evened the score with an own-goal and Mevlut Erding scored the decider to give Turkey a 2-1 win. Turkey has a win over Armenia and a draw against Belgium to their credit.

Belgium also hung tough in Group Five play as they blanked Armenia 2-0 on Saturday with both goals coming in the first half. Belgium has knocked off Estonia and played to a draw with Turkey.
