Series Shifts to Boston

MLB The Boston Red Sox return home to Fenway Park and will host the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday afternoon in Game Three of the ALCS. With the series knotted at a game apiece the Red Sox will send Jon Lester (16-6 3.21 ERA) to the hill while the Rays will counter with Matt Garza (11-9 3.70).

After taking Game One behind a sensational outing by Daisuke Matsuzaka the Red Sox saw their playoff ace Josh Beckett get battered by the Rays in Game Two, eventually dropping an 11 inning contest on a sacrifice fly.

Lester has been the Red Sox ace in the playoffs, having allowed just one earned run in 14 innings against the Angels in the ALDS and will be looked upon to give Boston the one-game advantage on Monday. Lester posted an 11-1 record at home this year with a 2.49 ERA including a 3-0 mark against the Rays at Fenway.

As for Garza, the right hander was 4-6 with a 4.53 ERA on the road this year and has dropped his last three decisions including a Game Three loss to the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS. Garza was 1-1 in four starts against the Red Sox this year.

First pitch for Game Three is scheduled to be delivered at 4:37 p.m. ET.
