LA Dodgers Strike Early to Pound Philadelphia Phillies

MLB Blake DeWitt was 1-3 with a triple and 3 RBIs, Rafael Furcal went 2-4 with a home run and an RBI, Manny Ramirez was 1-2 with a pair of walks and an RBI and Hiroki Kuroda threw six strong innings striking out three while allowing two runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies in Game Three of the NLCS to pull within 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.

The Dodgers jumped on Phillies starter Jamie Moyer, plating five runs in the bottom of the first inning as Manny Ramirez singled home Furcal, Casey Blake followed with an RBI single and Blake DeWitt followed with a triple that scored three runs for a 5-0 lead,

Philadelphia put a run on the board in the top of the second when Pedro Feliz singled off Kuroda to bring Ryan Howard home but Furcal answered for LA in the bottom half of the frame with a solo homer.

Nomar Garciaparra, starting at first for a struggling James Loney, pushed the Dodgers lead to 7-1 in the fourth with a single that scored Manny Ramirez.

Kuroda continued to cruise for LA as he set the Phillies down with little trouble until the seventh when he gave up a leadoff double to Chase Utley, Ryan Howard followed with a single to put runners at first and third and Pat Burrell followed with an RBI single. Kuroda was then lifted for Cory Wade who struck out Jayson Werth, got Feliz to fly out to center and Greg Dobbs to ground out to short to end the inning.

Wade came out in the eight and set the Phillies down in order and it was Jonathan Broxton who shut the door in the ninth to give the Dodgers their first win of the series.

Game Four will be played on Monday with the Dodgers sending Derek Lowe back to the mound while the Phillies place Joe Blanton on the hill. First pitch is scheduled for 8:22 p.m. ET.
