St. Louis Rams Stun Washington Redskins

NFL The St. Louis Rams (1-4) collected just 200 yards of total offense, had eight first downs and converted 4-14 third down attempts yet Josh Brown gave them an improbable 19-17 win over the Washington Redskins (4-2) on Sunday with a 49-yard field goal as time expired.

St. Louis showed little in the form of offense but it was a fumble returned 75 yards for a touchdown by Oshiomogho Atogwe in the second quarter that gave the Rams the lift they needed.

Heading into the fourth quarter the Rams were in front 16-7 but Shaun Suisham cut the deficit to 16-10 and when Clinton Portis scored his second touchdown of the game, a 2-yard run, the Redskins moved in front 17-16 with 3:47 left in the game.

Rams QB Marc Bulger then led the Rams down the field, converting a huge 3rd and 13 with just over a minute left that got them down to the Washington 16-yard line. It looked like St. Louis would hand the game right back to Washington though as Richie Incognito was hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that pushed the Rams back to the 32-yard-line but after a one-yard gain from Stephen Jackson the Rams went to Brown who nailed the 49-yard field goal for the win.
