Atlanta Falcons Score Incredible Win Over Chicago Bears

NFL Matt Ryan was 22/30 passing for 301 yards and a touchdown, Roddy White had nine receptions for 112 yards and a TD and Jason Elam went from goat to hero after booting a 48-yard field goal as time expired to give the Atlanta Falcons (4-2) a 22-20 victory over the Chicago Bears (3-3) on Sunday.

The first half was dominated by the kickers as Elam split the uprights three times and Robbie Gould gave the Bars three points on a field goal as the Falcons went into the half with a 9-3 lead.

Elam added his fourth field goal of the game on the Falcons opening drive of the third quarter to push the Falcons advantage to 12-3 but the Bears responded with a Matt Forte 3-yard touchdown run later in the quarter to pull Chicago to within 12-10.

Atlanta answered the Chicago touchdown with one of their own when Ryan hit White on a 3-yard toss early in the fourth quarter for a 19-10 lead. Chicago looked like they would cut that lead to two but the Falcons stopped them on a fourth and goal from the one-yard line. The Bears forced the Falcons to punt and drove down and settled for a Gould field goal to make the score 19-13 with just over four minutes remaining in the game.

On the ensuing kickoff Jerious Norwood went 85 yards down to the Chicago 17-yard-line but after three run plays the Falcons were forced to kick a 33-yard field goal and Elam was wide left, opening the door for the Bears. Kyle Orton then led Chicago down the field and eventually hit Rashied Davis on a 17-yard touchdown pass with 11 seconds left on the clock for a 20-19 advantage.

After the Atlanta took the kickoff up to their own 44 yard line there were six seconds left on the clock and Matt Ryan hit Michael Jenkins on a 26-yard pass with one second left on the clock, setting up the Elam 48-yard field goal to win the game.
