Whobegotyou the next big thing

Racing Heavily backed favourite Whobegotyou produced an emphatic victory in Saturday's Group One Caufield Guineas, storming to the post in an ominous display ahead of next month's Victorian Derby.

Whobegotyou looked a class above his three-year-old rivals over the 1,600 metre distance, sitting deep before starting his run at the 800 metre mark and streaking clear to the post three lengths ahead of Time Thief.

Von Costa De Hero finished a length-and-a-half further back to round out the placings.

Whobegotyou trainer Mark Kavanagh was virtually speechless after the impressive display, which saw his horse join such stars as last year's winner Weekend Hussler, as well as Lonhro, Mahogany, Redoute's Choice, Tulloch and Manikato as winners of the prestigious race.

"That was awesome. He has done everything right in his preparation, we haven't had one set back," he told Channel Nine following the race.

"He just keeps improving, it's starting to get exciting now."

Jockey Michael Rodd was equally elated and praised both the trainer and three-year-old star.

"Mark has done a great job with him," he said.

"He [Whobegotyou] is going to be the next big thing I've got no doubt about it.

"He pretty much toyed with them, pretty much the best 3-year-olds around and he just ate them up."
