Reuters boycotts India-Australia series

Cricket International news agency Reuters has suspended its coverage of Australia's cricket tour of India because of what it calls unacceptable terms regarding vision and images.

Reuters says it has failed to come to an agreement with Cricket Australia (CA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the terms of its accreditation.

If an agreement is not reached, Reuters says it will also suspend coverage of cricket in Australia, starting with New Zealand's visit next month.

"Reuters regrets this course of action," it said in a statement.

"However, press freedom and protecting the interests and coverage rights of our global client base is of key importance to Reuters.

"Faced with unacceptable accreditation terms for photographers and camera crews imposed by the BCCI and CA, Reuters is unable to continue reporting as planned."

The ban extends to matches, training sessions and commercial events in India, across text, pictures and television.

Reuters said it would continue discussions with CA and the BCCI in an effort to resolve the issue.
