ALL EYES ON THE HEATH THIS SATURDAY

Racing Get set for a ripper day tomorrow as we turn our attention to The Heath for the start of the Caulfield Racing Carnival. In the Caulfield Guineas Whobegotyou is a solid favourite at $3.60 after his outstanding win in the Stutt Stakes. Like the NRL last Sunday, there’s sure to be some bitter state rivalry with most Victorians looking to favourite Whobegotyou whilst the Sydney-siders are strongly represented with Dreamscape firming into $7.50 and Duporth currently a $12 chance. The boys in the Betstar office are happy to support Duporth on the basis he represents value, particularly on the back of his very solid fifth in the George Main Stakes. Given he’s dropping from WFA back to his own age, the double figure odds looks attractive. Alan Eskander thinks Lord Tavistock at $10 is the other value chance, his form all being first class this preparation. He beat home Whobegotyou in the Guineas Prelude and beat Romneya and Excelltastic at Flemington. If you’re chasing a good each way bet then this is your pick.

Turning to the Yalumba Stakes in what is generally regarded as a dress rehearsal for the Cox Plate, we think Pompeii Ruler currently $2.25 will be too good on his way to the WFA Championship of Australasia. In a race without much pace, Pompeii Ruler should be able to sit in the first three and sprint away from his rivals in the straight. He is finally reaching peak fitness, and we should see what this fellow is capable of doing. Sirmione now $5.50 is the runner with a query. We believe the lack of pace in the race could prove his downfall. There’s no doubting his class, and expect him to be running on strongly at the end of the race, but knowing Bart, we may be better placed waiting until Moonee Valley before investing on this fellow.

The other Group 1 tomorrow is the Toorak Handicap over 1600m. Typically open race with the in form Orange County favourite at $5.50. Alamosa gets the nod here - dropping back from WFA to a handicap he looks hard to beat at $6.50.
