Clinton Portis Carries Washington Redskins to Road Win

NFL Clinton Portis rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown, Shaun Suisham kicked field goals of 41, 48 and 50-yards, and Chris Cooley had 109 yards receiving and a touchdown as the Washington Redskins (4-1) went on the road and knocked off the Philadelphia Eagles (2-3) 23-17 on Sunday.

It looked like the Eagles would roll as they grabbed a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a 9-yard touchdown run from Brian Westbrook and a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown by DeSean Jackson but the Redskins settled down and Suisham put Washington back in the game with his three field goals in the second quarter to make the score 14-9 at halftime.

Washington grabbed the lead 16-14 in the third quarter when Antwaan Randle El rolled out and found Cooley on an 18-yard touchdown toss and then Portis gave the Redskins some breathing room early in the fourth when he scored from 4-yards out.

The Eagles managed to get a field goal from David Akers midway through the fourth quarter but the Washington defense buckled down the rest of the way to shut down the Philly offense and secure the win.
