Los Angeles Dodgers Complete Sweep of Chicago Cubs to Take Series

MLB Russell Martin was 2-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, James Loney had a two-run double and Hiroki Kuroda pitched 6 1/3 innings of shutout ball before as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Chicago Cubs 3-1 to complete an unexpected sweep of the best-of-five NLDS playoff series.

Loney got the Dodgers going in the bottom of the first as his two-out double off Cubs starter Rich Harden plated Rafael Furcal and Manny Ramirez for a 2-0 lead. In the fifth the Dodgers would add another run as Russell Martin doubled to bring Furcal home and Kuroda kept the Cubs off balance into the seventh before Cory Wade came on to retire the last two batters.

Chicago finally got on the board in the eighth when Daryle Ward singled home Derek Lee with two outs but Wade struck out Mark DeRosa to end the inning. Los Angeles then sent Jonathan Broxton to the hill in the ninth and he retired eth side in order to end the game and complete the sweep.
