NRL 2009 draw released

The new NRL season will kick off on March 13 next year with Roosters versus Rabbitohs, Broncos taking on Cowboys and Bulldogs up against Sea Eagles the highlights of the opening round.

Broncos captain Darren Lockyer and Rabbitohs star Craig Wing joined NRL chief executive David Gallop at Martin Place in Sydney this morning to announce the 2009 draw.

Teams will wear their heritage jerseys in round 10 while game one of the State of Origin series will be in Melbourne, with Sydney hosting game two and Brisbane game three.

Other highlights include:

The Anzac Day clash featuring the Roosters and Dragons will be at the Sydney Football Stadium;

Grand finalists Manly and Melbourne will face off at Brookvale Oval in round eight;

The trans-Tasman Test between Australia and New Zealand at Lang Park will be played on May 8, the same night as City-Country in regional NSW;

Byes have been structured so more teams have their stars available during the representative season
