College Rankings Week 5

Talkin Sport The Oklahoma Sooners and Alabama Crimson Tide took advantage of a crazy Week 5 in college football in which four of the top nine teams fell and the two schools now sit atop the new AP Top 25 rankings with the LSU Tigers sitting close by in the third spot.

Sam Bradford picked apart the TCU Horned Frogs with 411 yards passing and four touchdowns to lift the Oklahoma Sooners to the #1 spot after the USC Trojans were shocked on Thursday by the Oregon State Beavers.

The Alabama Crimson Tide jumped six spots in the latest AP Top 25 rankings after stunning the Georgia Bulldogs 41-30 in Athens on Saturday night.

Despite a less than impressive win over Mississippi State the LSU Tigers moved up two spots to claim the #3 position.

Chase Daniel had the week off but his Missouri Tigers still benefited from the AP Top 25 shakeup as the Big 12 school jumped two spots to #4 while the Texas Longhorns, who pounded on Arkansas, landed at #5 giving the Big 12 three teams in the top five along with Oklahoma.

The Penn State Nittany Lions continued their move into college football elite as they moved up six spots after beating Big Ten foe Illinois and now sit at #6 in the AP Top 25.

As for the victims of the AP Top 25 shakeup, the USC Trojans tumbled eight spots to #9 after their road loss, the Georgia Bulldogs were knocked eight spots back and sit at #11, the Florida Gators went backwards seven spots to land at #12 after falling to Mississippi and Wisconsin dropped nine spots to #18 after falling to Michigan.
