Jelena Jankovic Reaches First Grand Slam Final

Tennis Jelena Jankovic reached her first Grand Slam singles final on Friday after knocking off Elena Dementieva in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 at the 2008 U.S. Open.

Jankovic played disciplined tennis throughout the match as she placed 75 percent of her first serves in play and committed just 22 unforced errors. In comparison, Dementieva struggled as she hit 42 unforced errors and allowed Jankovic to break her serve on 5 of 10 opportunities.

Jankovic had never reached a Grand Slam final prior to Friday, earlier this year the 23-year-old advanced to the semifinals at the Australian Open and French Open.
