Argentina Beats Nigeria for Gold in Men’s Soccer

Football Argentina completed a perfect run through the 2008 Beijing Olympics in men’s soccer, dropping Nigeria 1-0 on Saturday to win the gold medal and defend the title they won at the 2004 Olympics.

Angel Di Maria provided the only goal of the match after sneaking the ball past Nigeria’s Ambruse Vanzekin in the 58th minute.

While Nigeria managed to get off more shots than Argentina they also committed a significant amount of fouls (24 compared to six for Argentina) that stalled several opportunities.
