Bolt, Powell Lead Jamaica to Men's 4x100m Relay Gold Medal

Track & Field The Jamaican team, led by Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell, set a world record in the men's 4x100m relay final in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Jamaica ran the 4x100m relay in 37.10 seconds, winning the gold medal and setting an Olympic record. Powell ran the first leg, followed by Michael Frater and Bolt as Nesta Carter was the anchor.

Trinidad & Tobago (Marc Burns, Richard Thompson, Keston Bledman, Emmanuel Callender) won the silver medal with a 38.06 as Japan (Shingo Suetsugu, Nobuharu Asahara, Shinji Takahira, Naoki Tsukahara) won the bronze with a 38.15.

In the individual 100m track event, Bolt won the gold in world record fashion with a 9.69 as Thompson won the silver. Bolt also set the world record in the 200m (19.30) as he has three gold medals thus far in the Olympic Games.

The U.S. men's team dropped the baton in the preliminaries for the 4x100m relay, disqualifying them from the track and field competition. They were the reigning world champions after winning the gold in the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Japan.
