Talkin Sport Shawn Johnson Captures Gold in Women’s Beam in Gymnastics

Shawn Johnson wrapped up her 2008 Beijing Olympics with a gold medal as the highly decorated American gymnast captured gold on the beam Tuesday, topping her teammate Nastia Liukin with a nearly flawless routine.

Johnson scored a 16.225 on the beam to finally ascend to the top of medal podium.

Liukin, who already captured the women’s overall gold, had to settle for silver after scoring a16.025 on the beam.

China’s Cheng Fei wrapped up her country’s impressive run in women’s gymnastics with a bronze medal effort on the beam, scoring a 15.950.

China’s Men Continue Dominance in Gymnastics as Zou Kai Takes Gold on Horizontal Bar

The Chinese men have owned the gymnastics mat at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and on Tuesday they closed out the competition with yet another gold as Zou Kai captured the gold medal on the horizontal bar.

Zou scored a 16.200 on the bar, just ahead of American Jonathan Horton who claimed the silver medal after scoring a 16.175.

Germany’s Fabian Hambuchen won the bronze medal on the horizontal bar with a score of 15.875.

Li Xiaopeng Strikes Gold for China in Men’s Parallel Bars in Gymnastics

Li Xiaopeng added to China’s stockpile of gold medals on Tuesday, winning the men’s parallel bars in gymnastics at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Li scored a 16.450 for the gold while South Korea’s Yoo Won chul claimed the silver medal after finishing his routine with a score of 16.250.

Anton Fokin of Uzbekistan reached the medal stand after scoring a 16.200 to win the bronze medal.
