2008 Beijing Olympics Results: Women’s Football

Football The 2008 Beijing Olympics continued on Saturday with more action in women’s soccer as country’s fought to secure position in group play to advance to the medal round.

In Group G action the United States bounced back from their disappointing loss to Norway with a 1-0 victory over Japan while Norway knocked off New Zealand 1-0 to secure their advancement, Norway sits atop Group ply with 6 points followed by the U.S. by 3 and Japan and New Zealand each holding 1 point.

In Group F play Germany beat Nigeria 1-0 while Brazil beat North Korea 2-1. Germany and Brazil each have 4 points while North Korea sits one point back with 3. Nigeria is yet to earn a point in Group F action.

In Group E play Sweden topped Argentina 1-0 and Canada and China played to a 1-1 draw on Aug. 9. Canada and China are each carrying 4 points while Sweden has 3 points and Argentina is at the bottom of the group with no points.
