Ronaldinho, the Brazilian soccer superstar, has officially transferred from FC Barcelona to AC Milan, according to reports on Tuesday.
Manchester City also offered Ronaldinho, but apparently AC Milan won the battle despite offering just €18.5 million ($30 million), almost half the €32 million ($50.9 million) the Premier League club offered.
Ronaldinho will arrive in Milan on Wednesday for a medical exam and sign a contract through June 2011. AC Milan will pay him €6.5 million ($10.4 million) per season and another $6.3 million if it clinches a place in next season's Champions League.
Ronaldingo was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005 and the UEFA Club Football of the Year in 2006. He scored 91 goals in 200 appearances in his five seasons at the Camp Nou, and helped lead Barca to consecutive Spanish league titles in 2005 and 2006, and the Champions League trophy in 2006.
At Milan, he will join fellow Brazilian national team members Kaka and Alexandre Pato.
Ronaldinho turned down Manchester United to sign with Barcelona in July 2003, shortly after David Beckham rejected Barcelona and signed with Real Madrid.
