Rafael Nadal knocked off Roger Federer in the men’s championship at Wimbledon on Sunday in a five-set epic 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (8-10), 9-7, ending Federer’s run of five straight Wimbledon titles.

Nadal remained composed throughout the match and when it came time to buckle down the Spaniard held court, surrendering is serve on just 1 of 13 break point opportunities. By minimizing his errors, just 27 unforced errors in the five hour match, he was able to overcome the 25 aces off the racket of Federer.

Nadal has erased the belief that he could only win on clay, finally beating Federer on the grass surface. Nadal had lost in the finals at Wimbledon the past two years but has won the French Open the last four years.
