Triple Crown Drought Continues

It will be at least one more year before horseracing fans will have an opportunity to celebrate a Triple Crown winner as Saturday’s 4-1 favorite at the Belmont Stakes, Big Brown, was pulled up after the far turn and the long shot Da’Tara won the blanket of carnations.

Big Brown was bidding to become the first horse since 1978 when Affirmed took the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes to win the Triple Crown.

Big Brown had been holding third for the majority of the race yet it became apparent towards the final turn that he would not be making a final push for history. 		Belmont Stakes
