Premier League Tips - 21st/22nd April

Football ozmattuk writes "

What a Season!

It just gets better and better!

Chelsea somehow fight off Blackburn to advance to the FA Cup Final, by winning 2-1 in extra-time. Their opponents are also the Premier League leaders, Man United, whom dispatched of the doomed Watford fairly comfortably 4-1.
Chelsea and Man United both had wins in midweek over relegation candidates, West Ham and Sheffield United respectively.
So we'll start today with previewing the two table-topping titans.

Man United v Middlesbrough Saturday @ 5:15pm (GMT Daylight Time)

These two teams have already met three times this season. Man United winning the previous league game and in the Cup they won the replay after a draw in the original tie. Boro can cause headaches for the home side, especially if Viduka and Yakubu are on song. Fergie might at some point rest players in this one as a semi-final in the Champions League with AC Milan might be in the back of his mind, he has however this week said the Premier League is the title he'd want more. The Red Devils need to keep winning as Chelsea are relentless in their pursuit of a third consective title and with Middlesbrough having nothing to play for, expect Man United to win this one.

Newcastle United v Chelsea Sunday @ 1:30pm

Chelsea are on a nine game winning streak in the league, conceding only the once in the mean time. They are the form team and maintain on track for an unprecedented "Quadruple". The easy way out here is to predict a Chelsea win. However, Chelsea want the Champions League more than the league and they'll be facing a fit Liverpool team in the first leg semi-final and might rest some players for this one. It isn't easy playing in front of fifty-five thousand shirtless crazy Geordie's and if you think the Chelsea title challenge may slip up at some point, have a look at the draw price. It's hard to go past the Blues though and i think they'll make it ten in a row.

Charlton Athletic v Sheffield United Saturday @ 3pm

Both teams are fighting for Premiership survival and this is a proper "six-pointer". Sheffield are currently two points clear of their London rivals and if they can win this one, they'll be five clear with only three games remaining. It'll still be catchable but mentally it could scar Charlton. These teams played in midweek, Charlton battling well getting a late equaliser at Everton, only to concede a injury time goal to go down 2-1. The Blades rested players in midweek with a inevitable defeat to Man United on the cards, they've had their eyes on this one. I guess it makes sense to rest players but i like the fact Charlton keep battling and playing their best eleven and i think that unity will get them across the line. Home win.

This weeks Premier man of the week goes to - Steven Gerrard. Liverpool's leader scored both goals against Middlesbrough in a 2-0 victory midweek, with one of them being a 30-yard screamer past a scrambling Mark Schwarzer.
