Premier League Tips - 14th/15th April - FA Cup Semi's

Football ozmattuk writes "

It's Crunch time!!

The Premier League relegation battle faces a huge contest this week while four teams battle it out to win the second major trophy of the season.

Sheffield United v West Ham United @ 3pm (GMT Daylight Time)
Can you believe it! The Hammers have given themselves a chance! How on earth did they win at Arsenal last weekend? Their luck has certainly turned for the better, that's for sure! Meanwhile another loss for Sheffield as seen them join West Ham in the bottom three. Sheffield United being at home should be like a 12th man, as Brammel Lane has one of the best atmospheres in the league, problem is they can't hit a barn door even if they tried. The momentum is with West Ham and in this "relegation six-pointer" a draw would be a safe option but i've got to go with another West Ham victory.

Everton v Charlton @ 3pm

Everton are starting to come good as of late, and have quietly crept up to sixth. The ToffeesCharlton however are in the same kind of form albeit at the wrong end of the table. Though they must have been disappointed not to take the three points at home to Reading on their last outing. Two England strikers go head to head in this fixture, Everton's Andrew Johnson and Charlton's Darren Bent, and if you're looking at a 1-0 win either way, have a go on the goalscorer being out of these two hitmen. For me, stick to the home side.
will be looking for maximum points to keep on target for European football next season.

Reading v Fulham @ 3pm

A very good season for Reading thus far, as the Premiership newcomers have never been in danger of heading back down to the "Fizzy Pop League". The Royals probably did enough to get something out of Liverpool last week although slipping to a 2-1 loss and drawing at Charlton, Reading have actually now gone six without a win. Fulham have been on a slide as well, which has resulted in the sacking of manager Chris Coleman. If you want three points, sack the manager as the team more often than not rises to the occasion. I don't see it happening here though. Northern Ireland manager, Lawrie Sanchez, takes the reigns till the end of the season and has performed miracles at International level...a shame he has to tarnish his good name with Fulham. Reading to get back to winning ways.

To say the season is reaching boiling point would be an understatement, thats for sure. What a time to be a football fan! In the Champions League, Man United have become favourites after a smashing seven past a helpless Roma, to set up a semi-final clash with another Italian team, AC Milan. Milan themselves surprised a few with a comfortable win at Bayern Munich. Chelsea showed great character to come from a goal behind to snatch a late winner in Valencia. Which has set up a semi-final replay of two seasons back against Liverpool, who went through after a professional display against PSV Eindhoven. No doubt the arguement of "did the ball go over the line" will be mentioned countlessly! (It did by the way!! The records prove it!)

It is FA Cup semi final weekend and you have to fancy Chelsea to beat Blackburn, as well as Man United to beat Watford. Both big guns are having a special season, with United still on for the Treble, while the Blues potentially could still win an amazing Quadruple! I must say the first FA Cup Final at the new Wembley would be a fitting venue for these two heavyweights.

Premier Player of the week is Cristiano Ronaldo. He dazzled Roma midweek and has just signed a new five year contract to stay with the Old Trafford outfit."
