New Chief Executive Officer Haroon Lorgat hails move as “biggest investment in global development by any sport outside football”

In his first week as ICC Chief Executive Officer, Haroon Lorgat has announced the most significant funding package for the development of cricket in the history of the game.
Mr Lorgat said the ICC would be pumping almost US$300million into the development of cricket outside the 10 Full Members in a massive investment to further strengthen the game around the globe.

Collingwood faces over-rate ban

England one-day captain Paul Collingwood faces a suspension after they were punished for a slow over-rate for the second time within a year.
He was found guilty of a breach of the International Cricket Council's code of conduct at The Oval on Wednesday.
A level three offence carries a minimum ban of four one-dayers or two Tests.
Collingwood, whose punishment will be determined at a meeting with ICC match referee Javagal Srinath on Thursday afternoon, has a right of appeal.

Australia can get back on top in the Caribbean

All to play for as eight of top nine teams are in action in the coming weeks
England could drop as low as eighth in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship table by the end of June if it loses both remaining matches against New Zealand and the West Indies begins its series with Australia in winning fashion.
Paul Collingwood’s men currently sit in sixth position on the table just ahead of Sri Lanka by a fraction of a ratings point. But if they suffer defeat to the Black Caps in the remaining two ODIs of the series, they will lose two points and fall to seventh.
Meanwhile, if a West Indies side that is showing signs of resurgence, can win the first three matches of its five-ODI series with the world champion, then it will most likely move into sixth position with England dropping to eighth.

Champions League bans ICL players

Organisers of the Twenty20 Champions League say qualifying teams from England will not be able to field players who featured in the rebel ICL.
The top two teams in domestic Twenty20 in India, England, Australia and South Africa will qualify for the multi-million pound event in India.
But English teams will be barred unless they agree not to play cricketers who featured in the Indian Cricket League.
Counties have so far fielded ICL players in the Twenty20 Cup.

Chanderpaul continues march up the ICC Test Rankings

West Indies batsman moves up to second averaging 147 in series against Australia; Hussey and Ponting slip as Sangakkara takes over at top; improving players include Jaques, Katich, Taylor, Bravo and Marshall
The record books will show that Australia beat the West Indies 2-0 but those who witnessed it will know that the men from the Caribbean were competitive throughout the series and perhaps deserved a different final scoreline.
Playing against the undisputed Test kings, it was never going to be easy for eighth-ranked West Indies but there were several positives to come out of the series for the home team and it can look ahead with a considerable amount of optimism and confidence.
Perhaps the brightest star in the West Indies’ sky at present is player of the series Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and following another good match in Barbados he has gained three more places in the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen. He now sits second in what is the highest ranking of his career to date.

Pakistan starts recovery in Reliance ICC ODI Championship

Plenty of scope for change with England going head-to-head with New Zealand
Pakistan’s success against arch-rivals India in Bangladesh on Saturday has seen it close the gap on the teams above it the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship table.
That success, by 25 runs in Mirpur, has not been enough to lift Shoaib Malik’s side from fifth spot in the table but it has brought it to within two rating points of the two sides directly above it, New Zealand and India.
Pakistan’s win also means it is now six points clear of Sri Lanka and England with each of those sides sitting on 105 rating points.

England moves up to third in ICC Test Championship

Plenty at stake in coming weeks as England and South Africa look to overtake India in second position; West Indies can gain four points with win over Australia in Barbados
England has moved up one place to third in the Reliance Mobile ICC Test Championship table thanks to its 2-0 series win over New Zealand.
Left-arm seamer Ryan Sidebottom wrapped up the Black Caps’ innings at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Sunday with six wickets as Daniel Vettori’s team was defeated by an innings and nine runs.
That win, coupled with the victory at Old Trafford and the draw at Lord’s means England rises above South Africa in the Test Championship table into third position.

ICC ODI CHAMPIONSHIP

India can move into third place in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship if it remains unbeaten in the tri-nation series involving Pakistan and host Bangladesh starting in Dhaka from Sunday.
Currently on same ratings points as New Zealand (113) but behind the Black Caps when ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point, India can take a two-point lead over Daniel Vettori’s side if it wins the two league matches and then the final on 14 June.
However, if Pakistan wins both its league matches and the final, it will leapfrog India to share third position with New Zealand on 113 ratings points but behind the Black Caps by a fraction of a point with India dropping to fifth position on 111 ratings points.
At the top of the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship table South Africa leads Australia by a fraction of a ratings point. However, Australia could regain the top position as it goes head-to-head with the West Indies in a five-match series from 24 June while South Africa’s ODI series against England will not start until 22 August.
