 | The Lingerie Football League (LFL) will begin in 2009 with half-naked women playing full-contact football in helmets, sports bras and panties, according to reports Wednesday.
The Lingerie Football League will be based in a two-conference format with 10 teams, expanding from the Super Bowl halftime show into a full-fledged league.
The Lingerie Football League began as the "Lingerie Bowl" during halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 and featured Team Dream vs. Team Euphoria. Team Dream won the first game, 6-0.

| NBA Preseason Begins This Week |
| |
The NBA season begins this week as every NBA team begins their preseason just one week after the beginning of training camp.
The Boston Celtics, the reigning NBA champions, will begin their preseason Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Los Angeles Lakers, who lost to the Celtics in the NBA Finals, host the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
LeBron James will lead the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Celtics on Saturday. Derrick Rose, the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, will play his first NBA preseason game on Thursday as the Chicago Bulls take on the Dallas Mavericks.

Two Tour de France stage winners have tested positive for an advanced blood doping product.
Italy's Leonardo Piepoli and Germany's Stefan Schumacher tested positive for Continuous Erythropoiesis Receptor Activator (Cera).
Italy's Riccardo Ricco has already admitted to using Cera, a version of the blood booster erythropoietin (EPO).

Olympic basketballer Rohanee Cox says she hopes the Opals' silver medal in Beijing will attract more fans to the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).
The Townsville star will feature in the first game of the WNBL season on Friday night when the Fire host Perth.
Cox says the league should gain momentum from the Olympics.

Lance Armstrong's cycling comeback is in doubt because of a technicality over anti-doping re-entry rules.
Riders coming out of retirement need to be in the International Cycling Union's (UCI) anti-doping programme for six months before being allowed to race.
That would make the American ineligible for January's Tour Down Under, after his return following three years out.
"We'll respect whatever decision they come down with," said the American, "but it's my hope that I can race."

| Lab to re-test Tour blood samples |
| |
France's national anti-doping agency (AFLD) is to begin re-testing blood samples from some riders at this year's Tour de France.
Italian rider Riccardo Ricco tested positive for CERA, a form of banned blood booster EPO, at this year's race.
The laboratory at Châtenay-Malabry, near Paris, will use a new, more effective test for CERA.
The samples of around 30 riders will be re-tested, including Ricco's ex-Saunier Duval team-mate Leonardo Piepoli.

| The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority |
| |
The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) today released its yearly results for the financial year (1 July 2007 – 30 June 2008).
The year saw ASADA strengthen its comprehensive anti-doping program in the pursuit of Pure Performance. This holistic approach incorporates ASADA’s functional anti-doping areas of education, testing, investigations, presenting doping cases to sporting tribunals, recommending sanctions, and monitoring compliance of national sports organisations.
“More than ever before, ASADA is bringing together every element at its disposal to protect the integrity of Australian sport,” ASADA Chairman Richard Ings said.
Mr Ings said in the lead-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, ASADA, on behalf of the Australian Government invested over $1 million in a comprehensive program involving anti-doping education, testing and investigations launched by the Minister for Sport, the Honourable Kate Ellis MP in February 2008.
