Scott Wins In Texas
Date: Monday, April 28 @ 19:08:18 CDT Topic: Golf
Adam Scott sank a 48-foot putt to beat American Ryan Moore in a play-off to clinch the US PGA Tour's Byron Nelson Championship in Texas.
The pair tied on seven under before world number 10 Scott, the highest ranked player at the event, birdied the third extra hole.
Scott wasted a three-shot overnight lead but holed the monster putt on the 18th for a sixth US title.
"I dug it out of nowhere," Scott said. "I got away with one today I think."
Scott struggled on the front nine with a bogey at the first and let the lead slip as Moore carded two birdies to draw level.
A further dropped shot from the Australian saw Moore go in to the clubhouse ahead, with Scott neading a birdie on the final hole to force a play-off.
Scott lifted his first US title in more than 12 months, having last won at last year's Houston Open, although he triumphed in Qatar on the European Tour earlier this year.
Moore, the 2004 US Amateur champion, missed out on claiming a maiden PGA title but matched his best finish on the Tour - a runner-up spot at last year's Memorial tournament.
American Bart Bryant was third, four shots adrift, while Swede Carl Pettersson ws the highest placed European in a group on two under.
