Oscar Freire took center stage at the Tour de France on Saturday as he captured the Stage 14, 120.9-mile trek from Nimes to Digne-les-Bains in 4 hours, 13 minutes, 8 seconds.

It was Freire’s first stage victory at this year’s Tour de France, a victory he needed after fellow sprinter Mark Cavendish snagged his fourth stage yesterday.

Australia’s Cadel Evans maintained his spot atop the overall leader board and he will be wearing the Yellow Jersey once again on Sunday’s 113.7-mile haul from Embrun, France to Prato Nevoso, Italy in which the riders will be faced with tremendous climbs through the Alps.

Evans will enter Sunday with a one second lead over Frank Schleck and 38-second advantage over Christian Vande Velde.
