Venus Williams Tops Sister Serena in Straight Sets

Venus Williams captured her fifth Wimbledon singles title on Saturday, defeating her sister, Serena Williams, in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 on Centre Court at the All England Club.
While Venus provided Serena opportunities to take games as well as sets she buckled down on break points and allowed her sister to capitalize on just 2 of 13 chances. That, coupled with Serena’s inability to get anything done with her second serve, sealed the match.
For Venus, this was her second straight Wimbledon title and fifth overall and gives her seven career Grand Slam singles titles. After losing two Wimbledon titles to Serena in the past this was the first time she had beaten her in England. This was also the first time she has beaten her sister in a Grand Slam singles match since the 2001 U.S. Open.
