Spain Knocks off Germany in Championship

The Euro 2008 Championship has been settled and for the first time in 44 years Spain held reigned supreme, knocking of a strong Germany side 1-0 on Sunday.
It was Fernando Torres that provided the only goal Spain would need as the forward hit the back of the net in the 33rd minute of action. That goal proved enough due in part to the stellar defense the Spaniards exhibited, holding Germany to just three shots on goal in the match.
Spain hadn’t won a European Championship in 44 years but the Euro 2008 proved to be their time as they managed to win every match they played, carrying a perfect Group D record and then knocking off Italy in the quarterfinals, Russia in the semifinals and Germany in the championship game.
