With Sunday’s final quarterfinals match in the books and rounding out the Euro 2008 semifinals picture the championship is inching nearer with one country needing just two more wins to be crowned UEFA Euro 2008 champion.

Euro 2008 semifinals action will begin on Wednesday with early favorite Germany facing a surprising Turkey side. Both countries finished second in group play but managed to get past their quarterfinals match-ups to earn their Monday ticket. Germany knocked off a listless Portugal side while Turkey shocked the Euro 2008 with a victory over Croatia on penalty kicks. Match time is set for 2:45 pm ET.

On Tuesday Russia will square off against Spain to complete the Euro 2008 finals puzzle. Russia, much like Germany, didn’t look overly impressive in group play yet looked strong in quarterfinals action. Russia crushed the hopes of the Dutch as two late goals in extra time pushed them into the semis. The Russians will face Spain who needed penalty kicks to get past Italy on Sunday to advance to the semifinals. Spain is the only country to win their group and advance to the semifinals. Spain and Russia will meet on Thursday at 2:45 pm ET.
